A Beautiful decaf sugar cane processed coffee from Pitalito, Huila Colombia. This coffee is clean, sweet and vibrant and a exceptional example of how good a decaf can be. Works well in all brewing formats and makes a great espresso! Source: terncoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

An exquisite washed Gesha from Arnulfo Diaz. This is one of several we will have from the family this year.. A small amount of this coveted coffee was grown this year and the result is intensely floral, clean and sweet with juicy layered stonefruit. Source: terncoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

Aricha is a remote community in Ethiopia’s Yirgacheffe region. It is home to one of the oldest coffee growing traditions in the world. To get to Aricha we have to fly to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia’s capital, then take a 30 minute local flight to the city of Hawassa in Sidamo. In Hawassa we drive four hours on a paved road until we reach the Idido washing station in Yirgacheffe. In Aricha the paved road ends and the dirt roads begin. Aricha’s terrain is rugged and mountainous, so distance to the individual farms depends on where on the mountain they are located. The closest farms to the city are 20 Source: terncoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

A lovely natural Ethiopian from some of the highest elevations in Guji. Syrupy tropical notes with a pronounced florality and a backbone of rich Dutch cocoa. This is definitely one of the best of the season and has been worth the wait! Koba’s producers intercrop using false banana trees, maize, Korch, Wanza, and Sesa for shade, selecting based on the age of the coffee plant and its other needs. Their soil is a highly fertile sandy loam with good water retention and drainage. It’s self-sufficient with proper planting practices and doesn’t require fertilizer to produce spectacular quality. A beautiful coffee from a group of farmers in northern Oaxaca right on the border of Veracruz. This coffee is named after a famous medicinal orchid used to relieve heart ailments and purify the bloodstream. Slightly tart tamarind, rich and creamy vanilla with a finish of caramel. Truly a great sweetly balanced coffee and very Oaxaqueno! Source: terncoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

A really stellar new coffee from our recent trip to Oaxaca! We visited this village in the Sierra Mixe region of northern Oaxaca this past February and were blown away by the hospitality and the overall quality that was coming out of this group of farmers. The farmer group was bolstered by a few younger producers who had travelled and learned some roasting and cupping protocols in the city and recognizing the quality that their community was capable of they implemented SCAA cupping protocols in their small village. They even supplied us with scoring sheets and a table of coffee to cup that we Source: terncoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).
