Ben Rahim is a Berlin specialty coffee company that began in 2015 as a tiny café hidden in the sixth courtyard of the Hackesche Höfe, off Sophienstraße in Mitte — the city's first third-wave coffee shop with an Arabian twist, drawing on Tunisian and wider Arabic coffee and tea traditions. It serves espresso and milk drinks, hand-brewed filter by V60, Chemex and Kalita, and its signature: traditional cezve (ibrik) coffee brewed to order on copper pots over micro burners at the bar. Founded in 2009 when brothers Jens and Svante Hampf split their coffee ambitions in two: Svante built Kaffa Roastery, and Jens set out to become a café entrepreneur under the sister brand La Torrefazione. The two companies still work daily side by side — sourcing coffee together, developing roast profiles, and running joint training — but a shared philosophy runs through both: coffee quality comes first, without ever taking it too seriously, because in Finland a proper coffee break is a small act of care as much as it is a drink.
