Old Soul Co. started in 2006 when friends Jason Griest and Tim Jordan — who met when Jordan was a customer at Griest’s Naked Coffeehouse — renovated a Midtown Sacramento warehouse near 18th & L into a wholesale micro-roastery and bakery, initially selling retail on the honor system from a cash jar. It has grown into a farm-to-table café group with five Sacramento-region locations, direct farmer relationships in Ethiopia, Mexico, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, Panama and Honduras, 30+ Golden Bean medals, an in-house baking operation and an education arm ("The Institute").
