Union exists to help the world discover the joy of specialty coffee while creating lasting value for the people and places behind it. Founded in 2001 by scientists Steven Macatonia and Jeremy Torz after they discovered San Francisco's artisan coffee scene, Union began in a parents' garden shed in London before growing into an east London roastery running Probat and Loring roasters. The company pioneered Union Direct Trade, paying farmers fairly for long-term partnerships, and still works with Maraba, their first co-operative partner from Rwanda since 2002. Union now sources from 42+ producer partners across 14 countries, is B Corp and ISO 14001 certified, and won The Queen's Award for Sustainable Enterprise in 2017. Source: unionroasted.com
