North Mountain is a small family-owned roaster in Berwick, in Nova Scotia’s Annapolis Valley, that roasts in small batches on restored antique roasters between 80 and 100 years old, using traditional European roasting techniques. Its coffee house on Commercial Street — in a building that has served as library, town hall, police and fire station, with seating in the old bank vault — serves the range, and Halifax cafés such as Narrow Espresso pour its beans. Favourites include the Red Velvet and High-Test espressos and the Vienna and French dark roasts.
