Heavy Water Coffee Roasters
Chinatown, Los Angeles, CA
Heavy Water Coffee Roasters is a micro-roastery on the Chinatown/Echo Park border of Los Angeles, founded by Tim Riley — a nearly decade-long coffee veteran of Handsome Coffee Roasters, Blue Bottle, and Commissary — who began roasting in June 2020 and opened the 170-square-foot brick-and-mortar shop on July 1, 2023. The team believes in "cultivating meaningful community through coffee," providing a space for people to come, feel seen, and heard, with a hyper-focus on specialty coffee making and coffees sourced carefully and ethically. All beans are micro-roasted on a vintage Probat L12 in Los Angeles.
