Farm-to-cup Puerto Rican coffee company that started in 2014 growing and roasting at its own farm, Hacienda Iluminada in Maricao. Hurricane Maria (Sept 2017) forced all four original shops to close; it reopened in 2019 at 131 E 7th St in New York’s East Village and has grown to 30+ shops across New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, Texas and Mexico City, also working with local farmers in Puerto Rico, Mexico and Colombia. #32 in North America in The World’s 100 Best Coffee Shops 2026. Rare peaberry coffee from our own farm. Only 1% of the harvest. Peaberry is the rarest coffee a farm produces. Normally a coffee cherry grows two flat beans pressed against each other. About one in a hundred grows a single round bean instead, called a peaberry, that takes all the cherry's sugars and nutrients for itself. We hand-sort them from every harvest at Hacienda Iluminada, our farm in the mountains of Maricao, Puerto Rico, and roast them separately. This 6 oz bag is the result.
