Mofer Coffee is a Black-owned Toronto coffee company devoted entirely to Ethiopian coffee — “mofer” is the Amharic word for the traditional plough. It sources from family organic farms in Ethiopia and sells both its own roasted coffees (Keffa, Guji, Yirgacheffe, Harrar, Sidama, Bench Maji and an espresso) and green beans for home roasters. Its rustic, wood-panelled cafés started on St Clair West and now include Queen West, the Danforth, Front Street and Lower Spadina.
