Elysian Coffee is a Vancouver roaster and café group that began in a small, cosy café at 5th & Burrard in Kitsilano. It now roasts at its 7th & Ontario roastery and tasting room in Mount Pleasant, and runs cafés at Broadway & Ash (with a hidden patio) and downtown in the Burrard Hotel. Its own Elysian Espresso and decaf sit alongside rotating single-origin filter coffees.

Elysian decaf is for anyone who loves great coffee but doesn’t need the buzz. We source Swiss Water processed coffees that are chemical free and roast them with all the love and care of any of our caffeinated coffees. It’s rich and creamy. Pulls a lovely shot of espresso and brews just as well as filter coffee. Perfect for any time of the day, or night. Source: elysiancoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

Elysian espresso is sourced and roasted for maximum sweetness and it’s an ideal base for all steamed milk drinks from flat whites to lattes. We don’t blend our espresso which means it grinds very evenly. This results in even sweeter shots and higher consistency across any brewing method from espresso machines to filter brewers or pourover. Perfectly chocolatey and rich, Elysian espresso is one of the most reliably delicious coffees you can find. Source: elysiancoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

Rwanda is a small country with a lot of coffee character. Most of it is grown by families on small farms and brought to a nearby washing station, a shared mill where the cherries are processed. Almost all of it is Red Bourbon, a variety prized for its sweetness. Rwandan coffees range from bright and fruity to soft, sweet and tea-like, and we lean toward the sweet end. We roast to keep that sweetness front and centre. Lovely as a pour-over or from a drip machine. Source: elysiancoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

Arabica coffee first grew wild in the forests of Ethiopia, and farmers there still grow a huge range of local heirloom varieties, mostly on small family plots tucked among other crops. Ethiopian coffees can be bright and fruity, deep and jammy, or delicately floral. We typically buy several coffees from Ethiopia each year and choosing them is always a pleasure as coffee buyers. We roast with a lighter touch so the character comes through loud and clear. Great no matter how you choose to brew and a great choice when making iced coffee. Primero is the filter coffee we reach for when we want a richer cup. It's sweet and chocolatey with a clean, easy finish. The kind of classic that never gets old. Brew this coffee in a drip machine, a pour-over or a press. It's lovely black and just as good with a little cream and sugar, first thing before work or at a slow weekend brunch with friends and family. Source: elysiancoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).

Guatemala grows coffee in eight distinct regions, from volcanic slopes to dry, high mountain valleys. There is a lot of variety from Guatemala, which is why we love buying from this country. Coffees from Guatemala are known for tasting chocolatey and a little nutty, sometimes with a hint of fruit. The kind of cup that's easy to love. We roast these coffees to highlight the best of their qualities. Enjoy these coffees however you like! Source: elysiancoffee.com (roaster’s own copy).
