Cafés El Magnífico
Barcelona, Spain
Family roaster tracing back to a 1919 colonial-goods store in Barcelona's Born district; the coffee brand itself was founded in 1962 by Salvador Sans Velasco's parents. A 1987 meeting with French coffee importer Philippe Jobin pushed the business toward fine, traceable single-origin coffees, and the Argentería flagship opened in 1989. Now run by the third generation with Claudia Sans Witty leading quality control, the roastery uses Loring Smart Roasting technology, rigorous cupping protocols, and direct-trade relationships across origin countries. Acquired the historic La Portorriqueña roastery (est. 1906) in 2018. Source: cafeselmagnifico.com.
