Roasteries / ICKPA.
ICKPA. is a Nordic-style artisan coffee roastery in Berlin-Kreuzberg, founded by Matt Kitayama — born in Japan, Berlin-based for over a decade — after a small kitchen roasting project during the covid lockdown grew into a seasonal micro-roastery. The name comes from the Slavic word "iskra", meaning spark. ICKPA works only with fresh-crop seasonal coffees, roasted light to keep the fruit and florals intact, buying lots from named producers across Colombia, Bolivia, Peru, Costa Rica, Brazil and Burundi. In autumn 2026 it soft-opened a small café and roastery space at Schönleinstraße 4, on the Landwehrkanal by U-Schönleinstraße: roaster on site, espresso and milk drinks, hand-brewed filter by V60, Chemex and Kalita, and bags to take home. Beans ship worldwide from ickpa.eu.
