About this coffee
Ruera Estate is a 190-hectare farm on the gentle slopes of low hills 15 km outside Ruiru in Kiambu, on red volcanic soil at 1,577 m. Ruiru 11, SL28, K7 and Batian grow side by side, and with two rainy seasons the trees flower and are harvested twice a year. Cherries are dried in the open air on beds down to 10–11% moisture. Petra picked it because it won the whole cupping table over: lavender and blackcurrant with a tannic structure and a long, deep finish.
